Falcons drop in tough fashion to Loudoun Valley, 8-7

The Falcons got on the board early on a solo HR by Greg Ussery, his second of the year.  Nick McMahon gave a strong start, but the Falcons ultimately couldn't hold down the Loudoun Valley offense, allowing 4 runs to score in the top of the 6th.  The falcons went to the bottom of the 7th down 8-4 but made  strong push to win which fell just short.  Ryan Smith was hit by a pitch to start the inning, followed by clutch hits by Billy Pierce and Zach Phillips to load the bases.  This set the table for Ussery's second big hit of the night - a 2 RBI double to right center field.  Phillips later scored on  a wild pitch to move the score to 8-7, but that is where the Falcon comeback would run out of steam.

Falcons win big at rival Liberty

Zack Dingus started for the Falcons, and was relieved by Ethan Hawes who earned the win;  Nick McMahon pitched the 7th.  Offensively, everyone chipped in, and the Falcon's were able to continually rebound from a threatening Liberty offense.

Falcons move to .500 with win over Osbourn

Behind a stellar start by Ethan Hawes, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 4 BB and 5 K, the Falcons moved to 1-1 in the Cedar Run, 3-3 overall.  Hawes was followed by Greg Ussery in the 6th and Zack Dingus in the 7th;  Dingus earned the win. The Falcons offense got started in the first when Ryan Smith(1-4) reached on an error and was later driven in by Andrew Byrd(3-4).   Noah Joseph led off the 3rd with a Hit-By-Pitch and scored on Byrd's first of two doubles on the night.  In the fourth, a double by Ryan Smith plated Drew Smith(1-2) who had reached on an error.  Billy Pierce(2-4) led off the fifth with a double off the left field fence and eventually scored on a on a base hit by Zack Phillips(1-1, 3BB).  The Falcons left the bases loaded in the sixth following a double by Nick McMahon(1-2) and a bunt hit by Drew Smith.  After Osbourn tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh, Andrew Byrd sent a drive to right center, leading off the bottom of the seventh with a double.  Zach Phillips took an intentional walk setting up the last play of the night.  Michael Campbell's sacrifice bunt advanced Byrd and Phillips and an errant throw on the play allowed Byrd to score the winning run.  The Falcons travel to Battlefield Friday for another Cedar Run matchup.
